Clad in good thoughts, athwart my breast a shield, I stand against the foe, forever armed; Girt with sure confidence in Truth revealed, When thrusts of erring power would make alarmed. Salvation's helm I wear and, as I wield The sword of Spirit, flaunting fears are calmed.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and gladness, This is the day which His wisdom hath made; Silence the fears which would hinder achievement, Service is courage, serene, undismayed. Enter His courts giving praise for His goodness, Sing and rejoice for the victory won; Service is learning the way of at-one-ment— Seeing that God and His likeness are one.
Let me not fret nor fume about the morrow With its vague fears, nor yet Brood sullenly on some past sin or sorrow, Which I would fain forget. Let not a fancied slight, nor selfish love, My thought allow, But in this present let me live and move— The eternal now.
You are God's perfect child, with no self-will To disobey His voice who says, "Be still!" You live eternally, sustained by grace, Dwelling secure within the secret place. Inseparable from good, complete, at one, You know yourself to be the Father's son.
Dear Father, all our opening hearts could hold Thou gav'st. We took our talents and went forth To trade with them, and thus increase their worth, And bring our Father interest manifold.
Broken and fettered in our human stress, Entangled in the snares of earthly fear, The voice of Truth bids us be whole and free, To rise and walk with Love forever near. Or walking on the waves of human self, Sinking beneath the load of error's pride, We hear the Christly voice, and courage comes, To find Love's healing presence at our side.
Father-Mother God, I ask Consecration for my task; With humility I pray, May I grow in grace today— Grace enabling me to see What another's need may be. Father-Mother God, I seek To be gracious, gentle, meek; May the light of Love divine Daily through my thinking shine, Lightening the heavy part Of another's burdened heart.
If we would know the joy of answered prayer, If we would enter in, the heavenly kingdom share, We must hold thought to God, His precepts live, And offer others all there is to give. We must be pure in heart, be selfless, have no fear If we would know, If we would know the joy of answered prayer.
Dear God, I long To find Thy joy; Thy wondrous truth to comprehend; to drink From Love's full fount—and to forgive The seeming wrongs that hide Thy law; To sow the seeds of life and love, To quiet fear and lift the burdened heart. Dear God, I long To gain a clearer sense of Love, To conquer self, and, gently as the dove, Impart true peace; To lift my thought unto the hills of light, Whence come Thy gladness, majesty, and might.
Infinite Mind, great source of all perfection, Thou art man's Life throughout eternity. Thou All of Love, we know Thee by reflection.
