MY PRAYER

From the August 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Father-Mother God, I ask
Consecration for my task;
With humility I pray,
May I grow in grace today—
Grace enabling me to see
What another's need may be.

Father-Mother God, I seek
To be gracious, gentle, meek;
May the light of Love divine
Daily through my thinking shine,
Lightening the heavy part
Of another's burdened heart.

Father-Mother God, I raise
Silently a hymn of praise,
Such as Paul and Silas sang
Till the gates of heaven rang.
Father-Mother God, I ask
Consecration for my task.
