THE LIVING WAY

From the July 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dear God, I long
To find Thy joy;
Thy wondrous truth to comprehend; to drink
From Love's full fount—and to forgive
The seeming wrongs that hide Thy law;
To sow the seeds of life and love,
To quiet fear and lift the burdened heart.

Dear God, I long
To gain a clearer sense of Love,
To conquer self, and, gently as the dove,
Impart true peace;
To lift my thought unto the hills of light,
Whence come Thy gladness, majesty, and might.

Dear God, I long
To be more truly humble, showing forth
Thy glory, that the halt and blind
May find the way,
The way of righteousness that leads to Thee,
Wherein abideth life and liberty.
