Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly;" and the Psalmist sang, "They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness." Since I took up the study of Christian Science and have been applying it, so many good and beautiful experiences have come into my life that I feel the urge to share in part these healing thoughts with others.
As a small child I longed to know God aright, because I could not accept the orthodox teaching of my loving parents and Sunday school teachers. In answer to my prayer to God for divine guidance, our precious textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was presented to me by my husband. Oh, the glory of that first spiritual glimpse of perfect man! How it changed my whole vision and outlook on life! Joyous weeks of prayerful study and communion with God, learning that He is Life and Love, followed.
At that time I was in need of a physical healing, having suffered considerably from a painful condition known in materia medica as varicose veins. I began to attend Christian Science church services; and the second time I attended church, I was instantaneously healed of this distressing difficulty. The healing took place twenty-six years ago and has remained permanent. Prior to this healing a surgical operation seemed imperative. Desiring to know how this healing work was accomplished, I found in Science and Health these lines (Pref., p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," and (ibid., p. xi), "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation."
