ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MOTHER CHURCH

From the July 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Annual Meeting of The Mother Church was held on the afternoon of Monday, June 6. Members attended from far and near, filling the main auditorium of the Extension and the original edifice of The Mother Church. The Christian Science Board of Directors, in an address which was received with deep appreciation, expressed gratitude for the loyalty of Christian Scientists throughout the Field to Mrs. Eddy, "as the one divinely commissioned to give to the world the final and complete revelation of the Christ." They stated that the Church had grown substantially during the past year and was "united, harmonious, and without debt," its affairs having been efficiently and economically conducted. The Directors emphasized the success of the healing ministry of Christian Science, and referred to the need for alertness on the part of Christian Scientists in regard to national and international conditions requiring adjustment.

The meeting was opened with the singing of Hymn No. 207, "O gentle presence," written by our Leader. The retiring President, Judge Clifford P. Smith, then read the following passages from the Bible, with correlative passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and "Retrospection and Introspection" by Mary Baker Eddy:

The Bible
John 14:15-17
John 16:12-14
