Testimonies of Healing
I ATTENDED A CHRISTIAN Science Sunday School as a young child until my family relocated to another city. I started smoking at the age of fourteen and smoked up to two packs a day.
MY NEW WIFE of eight months and I boarded a plane in Sydney, Australia, for a flight to San Francisco, California. We were on our way to Reno, Nevada, to introduce my wife to my daughter, who was living there.
My Written Expression of gratitude for a healing that took place approximately ten years ago is long overdue. Although I had experienced some remarkable healings over the past 40 years of turning to God as my only physician, I had not encountered a debilitating and life-threatening illness of this magnitude prior to this time.
A Year and a Half Ago I began to notice numbness in a few of my fingers. It would last a short time after I got up from bed, but then worsened to the point that my other fingers were affected.
I Love That We Can heal by applying the same principles Jesus taught a few thousand years ago. Five years ago, when I was seventeen, I had an opportunity to demonstrate this.
SOME YEARS AGO when our children were young, my sister's family would travel a long distance to be with us at Christmas. It was a very happy time for cousins to share, and our children greatly anticipated it.
Several Years Ago a painful and fairly large lump appeared on my neck, almost overnight. Swallowing and eating became increasingly difficult, and this seemed to be a serious threat to my life and health.
Christian Science came in to my life in my late teens. Since a child I had loved the Bible, so it was natural for me to accept that Christian Science was the promised Comforter.
When I was a young man I was aware that my aunt, a respected Hollywood astrologer, had checked her astrological charts to learn how each of her nephews would fare in this human experience. As students of Christian Science, my parents explained to us that despite the loving intentions of my aunt, astrology was a false science—that is, not a science at all, but, in essence, a superstitious belief in a power apart from God.
AS A THIRD-GENERATION student of Christian Science, I now enjoy seeing my children and grandchildren blessed by the truths that Mary Baker Eddy revealed, and I feel a need to write this long overdue testimony. Nine years ago during the week of Thanksgiving, my mother and my daughter and her family were visiting.
