When my mother passed away I felt barren except for the tears that filled my heart. Not my mother—she was so good! Raw emotion took over at first.
WHEN I WAS DIAGNOSED with a hernia, the physician said surgery was necessary to avoid complications that could arise if treatment were delayed. In spite of his predictions and the fact that I was still new to the practice of Christian Science, I felt strongly that I wanted to rely on this Science for healing.
A spot appeared on my nose, and began to change and get quite ugly. When I realized that it wasn't going away, I started to pray — really striving to understand more clearly that I was created by God, that He loves me and knows me, and certainly doesn't know me as anything but a completely pure idea.
I was waxing the car when I cut my hand on the bottom of the license plate. Although it was a long, deep cut, my first thought was not of fear but that God was with me and would care for me.
