Testimonies of Healing
FROM early childhood sensitiveness to spiritual impressions inclined my thought naturally toward religious topics. For a while the current orthodox interpretations, which I had been brought up to regard as final, were accepted without question.
It is with a heart full of gratitude to God, and to dear Mrs. Eddy, that I give the testimony of my healing.
I am indeed glad to give this testimony as a small evidence of my appreciation of what Christian Science has done for me. I have been healed of many minor troubles, but the great healing has been for my eyes.
I take much pleasure in relating the healing of my sister through Truth, as revealed in Christian Science. When a young woman she became ill, and through the strain it developed into what was termed insanity.
When but a child I began to have ill health, and it was a continuous struggle to remain in school. At one time I was out for a year, thinking that would benefit me, but I grew worse steadily and never attempted to study again, though my desire had been to teach.
I was a sufferer from what doctors called an incurable disease and was made whole through Christian Science. With the hope that these truths may be of benefit to some one who is similarly afflicted, I cheerfully give this testimony regarding my experience in Christian Science.
When I took up Christian Science I had been seriously ill for many months with a severe attack of a nervous trouble with which I had been afflicted more or less for fifteen years. Too much work and too much excitement kept me in a chronic condition of partial exhaustion, and at three separate times I had been obliged to discontinue all work and all amusement for extended periods.
I was healed of stomach trouble of many years' standing by reading Science and Health. My condition had reached the stage in which I had periodical attacks, that came on with greater frequency.
I am an officer of the United States Navy, having entered the service at my fifteenth birthday and continued on active duty until one year ago, when at my own request my name was put on the retired and reserved list. Fifteen or twenty years ago I began to have occasional spells of "the blues," which my brothers and sisters and I looked upon as hereditary.
I am very thankful for what Christian Science has done for me, as can readily be understood when my condition before trying it is known. I had not been feeling well for years, and had taken medicine most of the time.
