Testimonies of Healing
A few years ago when a cousin and I were praying together, she told me about a healing her grandfather had that became our family’s introduction to Christian Science. This man, my mother’s eldest brother, had exhausted all medical means and was healed of leukemia in its final stages through Christian Science treatment.
At the beginning of spring last year, I went for a walk one morning. It was a clear day, and the park was alive with people who, like me, were enjoying the sights, sounds, and fragrances of nature.
Several months ago, I woke up with an arresting sense of pain in my stomach. As a young working professional who was new to the workforce, I attempted to go to work that day, thinking that I could simply work through the challenge.
Christ Jesus said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” ( Luke 10:19 ). Those words came to me very early one morning earlier this year.
Some years ago, soon after starting college, I noticed a bit of pain in both my upper and lower jaw. Soon after that, I had a dental appointment.
About a month and a half ago I woke up in the middle of the night with a pounding headache and violent stomachache. It had been years since I’d felt that ill, and I immediately sat up in bed and did what came naturally to me—pray.
One Wednesday evening before church, my husband and I decided to take a bike ride. The next thing I remember I was sitting in our living room, asking where I was and what had happened.
A few years ago, I started to feel ill while away on business. On the flight home I felt extremely tired.
This healing is one that seemed long in coming, but quick in happening. In fact it had much to do with gaining a clearer, more palpable sense of what it means that time itself is not a factor in the reality of being, in spiritual reality.
The day before a recent holiday, I awoke with all the symptoms of a cold. As this was to be a joyous family gathering of four generations, I was particularly discouraged to be so visibly ailing.
