WORDS FOR THE HOUR

From the March 1885 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The spirit of prophecy inspired Wendell Phillips when he said "Christian Science has started on a crusade which will end only with the millennium,'' and the words should be immortalized in the thought of every Christian Scientist. Let us remember that we are at work for a Cause—not for a person. Let us remember in the midst of seeming defeats—when the world's malignity and hatred of our truth pursue us—that we are at work for millions. We must not ask to see the harvest; we must be content to sow the seed.

When the schools of theology and learning cry out against us, because we are tearing away the false foundations of Christianity and health—based on fear alone— let us still proclaim the immutable law of Truth—God is all and there is none else beside Him.

Ere the trumpet voice of Truth dies on the startled air, we will come with the healing ointment of divine Love, to bind the broken reed, and each day will rise to loftier heights, till we stand securely upon these obstacles which seem to stand before us to-day.
