What the Christian Scientist has to do is to...

From the March 1885 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What the Christian Scientist has to do is to endure,—to hold fast,—to stand steadfast to himself,—to draw others' thoughts to his thought—not to surrender his to theirs.

If I allow any one to irritate me, I have gone over to his thought. To isolate one's self with God; that is necessary. To stand as in a strong tower of invincible thought, where others may seek refuge and safety, but from which we go not out. Foes without, and foes within, assail, and yet all the mighty legions of God stand ready to help and join forces.
