SCHOOL OF TRUTH

From the February 1887 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As we enter school we know not what is before us, but our purpose is, or should be, to get knowledge and wisdom from those who are supplied with such. Thus we come to this school of Truth, and in it we learn of the "All in all." As we enter we must divest ourselves of the idol of self, that we may in time be fitted for the higher school of the just made perfect. As we study we find the "I AM" is one Universal Good, saying, "I am Life," "I am Truth," "I am Love," "I am Health," "I am Intelligence," "I am Substance," "I am all things, whatever is good or needful to produce happiness, harmony and holiness, " That I AM." We find that Christ, Truth, is with us, and by us, and our desires should ever be, to be taught in this school of Truth and know the true Light, where we learn the alphabet of our nature in the Light of eternity. It is our first class in spiritual understanding. We must make the right use of what we acquire in this, the rudiments, then shall we be able to advance to higher lessons. "He that doeth His will shall know of the doctrine," shall be instructed in all wisdom. "It is impossible for God to lie" (Heb. 6:18); let it therefore be impressed upon our thought that God is Love ; and as such, listen to no other voice.

Then shall we seek and find,
When we search with all the Mind,
In meekness and in might,
Thus strive and do the right.

As in eating, we make personal use of the food that is before us; so we must make an individual and practical use of the Truth. It is not carnal, like that of the Israelites (Deut. 16:11, 14.), but spiritual.
