From the January 1904 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a heart full of love to God for the revelation and revelator of Christian Science that I want to tell of some of the beautiful demonstrations we have had on the farm.

When Christian Science came to our home, I had not walked for three years, with the exception of a few times when I supported myself on crutches and dragged my feet. The doctors said it was partial paralysis. In a few days after I began taking treatment. I felt as if I had a girdle around me. I suffered awful pain, and was obliged to take something to ease me and make me sleep, but I resolved to follow the thought of Job "Though he slay me, yet will I trust him." I lay there in a cold perspiration for hours, and it seemed sometimes that it was death, but I knew if I trusted in God it could not hurt me, so I went to sleep in that state of mind. When I awoke I felt as if I wanted to run and tell my neighbors, but I kept still and studied and worked on for several days. When I told my husband that if he would get my clothes and help me dress, I believed I could walk, our little boy, who could not remember ever seeing me walk, began saying, "Papa, nobody is happier than me." and when I walked to my chair by the fire, his voice rose louder and louder, and he clapped his hands together, saying, "Papa, nobody is happier than me!" When I looked at him his little face was wet with tears, and papa's and mamma's tears flowed with his in thankfulness to God. My heart overflows with love to God and to our dear Leader for giving us this blessed understanding of Christian Science. I am also thankful to the dear one who helped me to realize this truth.

One of the grandest thoughts to me has been that divine Principle reveals the mirror in which we can examine ourselves and see how much spirituality we are reflecting. I promised God that I would follow wheresoever He led me, no matter what the cost, and I have tried to live close to my Saviour.
