With the hope that it will help lift some other weary wanderer out of bondage and into an heritage of freedom and truth, I humbly offer to the Field this brief history of my experience with Christian Science.
Three years ago a confirmed dyspeptic, under doctor's care, having tried many remedies without any permanent relief, I was brought in contact with Science by meeting a very dear relative whom I had not seen in many years, and who proved to be a Scientist. While I had no faith or understanding, I accepted treatment and was astonished and delighted at the result. I was completely healed in a very short time, being able, from the beginning of treatment, to eat anything I fancied, without any distress whatever.
Naturally I desired to know something of the power which could perform such good works, and I was informed that the entire Science or understanding was contained in the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker G. Eddy. I studied them both, following the precept, "Seek, and ye shall find." The Bible, which had always been a sealed book to me, was unclasped, and became illumined with pages of golden knowledge, revealing the new-old truth, as taught and expounded by Jesus and his disciples, —the truth which has existed since the foundation of the world, but has been misunderstood, reviled, hidden for a time by gross ignorance, superstition, and bigotry, and is now being proved a science by its works. Thousands of grateful hearts now testify to the healing power of Truth which they have experienced in themselves by the casting out of every devil known in the category of pathology.
