The International Quarterly, in calling attention to the changes which have taken place in denominational theology, says,—
"With every year it becomes more and more certain that by the year 2000 no ecclesiastical organization now existing in America will retain its present form. This statement was made as early as the year 1870 by the distinguished president of Brown University. Thirty years have more than justified a position which then seemed somewhat startling"
An example of this tendency is seen in the recent action of the Nassau County (N. Y.) Presbytery in the case of Rev. Samuel T. Carter who, according to the New York Evening Post, is "one of the three Presbyterian clergymen who started the movement which led to the revision of the Presbyterian creed in America." A few months ago Dr. Carter wrote a letter in which he renounced certain teachings of Presbyterianism, and in consequence of this action he was called before his Presbytery. That Dr. Carter's fellow-members are in accord with him is shown by the following recommendation submitted by a committee and adopted by the Presbytery.
