From the October 1907 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I feel it my duty to express my gratitude for the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science and Christian Scientists. Before I knew anything of Christian Science it was my daily prayer that I might be able to join the psalmist in his words of gratitude to God, "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases." I had many diseases and for each one a different medicine. It would lead too far if I attempted to explain how I came to Christian Science, but one thing is certain, that God led me to it. Through four treatments from a Christian Science practitioner I was freed from all my diseases, and I can now join the psalmist in saying, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."

When I was healed, ten years ago, I did not understand my healing, but tried to find out. I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which I studied diligently, although it was very slow work, because I had to learn to read English. As time passed on I gained an understanding sufficient to overcome colds and other troubles. I have used no medicines for the last ten years, nor needed any help, and I am well in spite of my advanced age (I am seventy-five years old). I thank God that I live in a time when the teaching of Jesus has been rediscovered and is being practised, and this not only by a select number. Christian Science is for the common people and their families as well.

I am glad that the Germans are coming into Science so readily, and I hope and wish that many may find the way to health and harmony in God. I revere our dear Leader, who had the understanding to draw aside the curtain that we might see the light which would have remained hidden from us but for her labor of love.
