I became interested in Christian Science about ten years...

From the May 1907 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I became interested in Christian Science about ten years ago, through the healing of my little girl. When six months of age she developed what the physicians pronounced a serious bowel trouble. Nothing we could give her in the way of food agreed with her, and she gradually grew worse. One afternoon she became much worse; I did not think she would live until morning. She was relieved, however, from that particular trouble, but was left in a much weaker state. We decided to take her to the Springs, thinking the change would be beneficial, but the result was rather the reverse. After staying there a while she had another alarming attack, and two physicians were summoned, but they gave no hope of her recovery. In a few days we returned to Americus. She was in a very low state of health; all vitality and action seemed to be stopped. The child had been in this condition for three months, when one morning I felt that surely her days were numbered; but that very day a Christian Science practitioner was called in. The baby was healed at once. The very first treatment changed the whole condition. Her food did not disagree with her any more, and she was perfectly well and happy. It took some time to get her flesh back, for she had become greatly wasted. I feel that no one could realize the condition of the child unless they had seen her; the case seemed hopeless from the standpoint of materia medica.

All praise be to God for Christian Science, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, its Discoverer and Founder.
