One afternoon last October my husband, my daughter and myself were poisoned with mushrooms. At the sight of the mushrooms I had smiled, for I remembered having seen many years ago a row of mummies in the vault of a church in France, in a part of the country where mushrooms abound. They were nine in number, a whole family, from the grandfather to the last child five years old, and the card fixed on them said that they had died in the most dreadful suffering, caused by eating unwholesome mushrooms. I did not, however, impart my thoughts either to my husband or to my daughter, and we ate heartily of the vegetable. At about five o'clock I felt ill, and my daughter was soon attacked with the same terrible suffering. She had just enough strength left to go and call a Scientist who lives in the same hotel where we do, and ask her to come and help us. At that time the suffering was so terrible that I was crouched upon the floor. The Scientist found me in this state and began to treat me, but at first it seemed as if the pains were growing worse. Then all at once the pain was gone and I felt as strong and well as ever. It was just an hour that the Scientist had been treating me. I was so glad that I kissed her while thanking her. I then got up and went to the room of my daughter, but she was better. It had seemed that she was dying, but very quickly the awful symptoms were met and overcome, and my daughter grew better and better. At half past six my husband returned from his place of business and told us that at about five o'clock he had felt the same alarming symptoms. He thought immediately of the mushrooms, and began to deny with all his mental strength that any "deadly thing" could hurt a follower of Christ, and speedily the pain was gone. The effect of the poison passed away from us just like a nightmare. Neither of us felt the least fatigue after this quick healing. The healing had been complete.
For these beautiful demonstrations we are very grateful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, who taught us the way to make them.—Mexico City, Mexico.
