In April, 1906, I was in a critical condition both mentally and physically. 1 had been a great sufferer from rheumatic trouble, which had settled in my eyes, and I had become almost totally blind. I had the best physicians in the East and here. They all agreed that there was only temporary relief for me. At this time Christian Science was presented to me by a dear friend and I took it up as a last hope. In one treatment I was cured of headache in its severest form. In about six weeks the thought came to me that sight is spiritual, and I began reading large print. I can now read and sew without the aid of glasses, which I had worn about fourteen years, and am in perfect health. My little girl (now eleven years old) had been an invalid since she was eight months old with a serious bone trouble. Her father and grandfather having died with lung trouble the thought of heredity was held over this child. She had the very best specialists in the East, and had two operations. The trouble settled in her hip, and for three and a half years she wore a brace. She had also been in plaster casts with a weight on the foot. When she saw that I was getting well, she wanted to take treatments. I was fearful about taking the brace off, and told my practitioner that I knew I was going to get well, but had this fear about the brace. She said, "Do you think God would cure you and not cure your little girl?" I immediately went home and took the brace off. That was more than a year ago, and she is now well and strong. Her leg has developed nearly as large as the other and grown one inch in length. She was also cured in three treatments of a serious throat trouble. My husband has been cured of the smoking habit. I had been a member of an orthodox church since 1884, but never took any interest in the reading of the Bible. It is now read daily, also "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
For these and many other blessings I am truly grateful. I know that God is guiding me each day, and it is my daily prayer that I may follow more closely the teachings of our Master. My heart goes out in gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for this great truth which she has been enabled to make plain to the world.
