My boy, who is now eight years old, had an illness two years ago which was followed by ear trouble. He was operated upon; but as the fever was very high at times he was removed to a hospital in Cologne, and a more serious operation was performed. I was there with him for two weeks, but he did not improve any. Thereupon the physicians undertook the third operation; still the fever did not diminish. The physicians did not know what to do—they stopped giving medicine to the child and ceased probing his head. He was given up by the most skilful physicians of Cologne; they expected his death at any moment.
I then wrote to Berlin, in my very great distress, and asked for Christian Science treatment. The child received absent treatment, and in a few days the fever had vanished and a healthy appetite appeared. After ten days he was able to leave the hospital. The large wound healed up harmoniously, and the boy kept his hearing, for which I am very grateful to God. The physicians could not understand it, and all said that it was a miracle.
I often thank our heavenly Father that the truth has wrought such a wonder with my child, and also thank God with all my heart that He has sent us Mrs. Eddy, who gave us our text-book, Science and Health. I study the blessed truth which it contains more and more earnestly, and use it more faithfully in my daily life.
