It was about seven years ago that I first heard of Christian Science, and it appealed to me, as I had often wondered why there was no church that recognized all of the teachings of Christ Jesus. I seemed unable to investigate Christian Science at that time, but I drank in every word that friends said to me about it. Two years and a half ago the subject was again brought to my attention by a relative who came to visit in our home. He spent ten days with us, and before the time was past I was convinced that the study of Christian Science would bring to me the happiness I had been, longing for during the past years. While in my teens I had become a busy worker in the church, but always felt that I was not getting out of the Bible the truth which God intended His children to have.
I commenced the study of Christian Science not for the physical healing, but in search of happiness and with a desire to know more about God. I purchased a copy of Science and Health, and was told that an earnest study of the text -book in connection with the Bible would satisfy my desires. These books have been my constant companions ever since. Some days I have carried Science and Health with me about the house as I did my work, and I have found that the truth was unfolded to me as I needed it. Although I did not begin the study of Christian Science for the physical healing, I found that by my earnest study of these books the healing had come. I had worn glasses constantly for eight years, but after studying Science and Health two weeks I found that unknowingly I had gone a half day without my glasses. Before three weeks had rolled away I was able to lay my glasses aside, and I never have needed them since that time.
Soon after this Truth led me to a Christian Science practitioner, who talked with me wisely and strengthened me in my dependence on the study of the Bible and Science and Health. In a little over a month an ailment had disappeared which doctors had told me I never would be rid of without an operation. I had also suffered so severely from rheumatic trouble that my hands were deformed. Doctors told me they would be worse as I grew older but before three months had passed by, after I accepted Christian Science, I found that my hands were straight and were their normal size. The pain had gone weeks before. Other ills of a less serious nature had likewise disappeared.
