I cannot express in words my gratitude to God, and to the revered Leader of Christian Science, for the moral, physical, and spiritual help I have received through this wonderful revelation of Truth. For five years I had been a constant sufferer from distressing ailments, namely, sleeplessness, heart trouble, and other discordant conditions. I scarcely met a friend without being told how bad I looked, and I had no reason to doubt it. I had treatment from many physicians, also from a specialist, etc., but all to no avail. From some I received temporary relief, from others none.
A friend advised me to try Christian Science, and after everything else had failed, when I was discouraged, weary, and sick at heart. I reluctantly agreed to do so. In two weeks' treatment I was healed, and had learned to love and trust God instead of entertaining the false mortal sense of dread and fear so prevalent in my former condition. I had been a church-member for years, but found that what I most needed was not taught there, namely, God's willingness and power to heal. I was taught to be prepared for death, and told that salvation would follow, but this teaching did not supply my present need. Weary with pain and athirst for spiritual food, I seemed to come to Christian Science without hope in God or faith in man.
This great subject of Christ-healing which our Master endorsed and practised seems to have become as something remote in history instead of being a power in the Christian churches of today. If Jesus proved the presence of the Christ by his healing work, then this healing should be a most vital part of our religion. Nevertheless, thanks to the tireless labors of our revered Leader, Isaiah's prophecy is being fulfilled through "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations." I am thankful to Mrs. Eddy for walking so closely in our Master's footsteps, and can only express my gratitude by following her teachings and trying to assimilate more of the divine character.
