I was an invalid for years and bedfast about six years. I cannot realize any one's suffering more than I did. I had lost all remembrance of what ease was, and I could not believe it possible for any one to be free from pain. I had been under many physicians of different schools, and had tried everything we knew of. I had all manner of diseases, and there was said to be no hope for me; that I could not live much longer. I had been devoted to the church since childhood, but when God would not answer my prayers, as it seemed. I had to give up God, together with the Bible, which had become an inexplainable book. This was the last drop in my cup of suffering.
When Science and Health was sent to me, I saw that I had found the truth about God, and I knew I had found that for which I had been hungering. My healing began then, and continues until there seems little connection between myself at that time and the present. Every circumstance of my life has been improved by the knowledge of Christian Science, and I cannot conceive of existence without it.
I am more and more grateful for this great light, which is growing brighter to all men and for which they are seeking. I am glad that gratitude is being poured out for Mrs. Eddy's love and labor. Words cannot express our indebtedness to her for this great blessing—Christian Science.
