I have long felt it a duty, after receiving so many benefits from Christian Science, to tell something of what it has done for me. About ten years ago. after my family physician had exhausted every means known to materia medica to relieve what is generally termed appendicitis, and had advised me to go to the hospital for an operation, I went there, only to find that the physicians in charge held no hope whatever for my recovery. My daughter, who was with me, then called a Christian Science practitioner, with the result that the pain gradually ceased and I was soon healed.
While I was very thankful for this healing. I did not take up the study of Christian Science until April, 1909, when I was taken with acute lung trouble. The physician who was called told my family that I was so far gone there was nothing he could do to help me. Again a Christian Science practitioner was called, a decided change was noticed, and I was soon about my duties again. I am indeed thankful to God for this healing, and especially so for the spiritual awakening it has brought. I am also grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the purity which enabled her to give to the world the key that unlocks the Scriptures, so that we may know and understand their true meaning.— Hornell, N.
