This healing truth, known as Christian Science, came to me in the darkest hour of my life, when the last vestige of hope had departed. The most approved medical methods had been tried and had failed, so I stood alone in discouragement, almost in despair, held down by the constant fear of a so-called hereditary disease. In this dark hour a voice reached me, telling me to try Christian Science. For years I had suffered from an organic and nervous difficulty, also a skin disease. I had been treated by many doctors for these conditions, but none were able to relieve me and I steadily grew worse.
It was at this time that I turned to the "great Physician" for help, and by the transformation of thought which accompanies Christian Science I was almost instantaneously healed of the skin disease, and this healing gave me hope. The mental healing which I so much needed was, however, gradual, and during this time I was also healed of the fear of hereditary disease. I find as I faithfully apply the inspired teachings by our dear Leader that it gives me every opportunity to demonstrate the activity of Truth in my daily life, and enables me to prove every day the peace, joy, health, and harmony which Christian Science gives. I am truly thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the many channels through which divine Love and Truth has reached me. I know that only as we follow closely our Master's great command, "Love thy neighbor as thyself," can we truly prove our gratitude, and my daily prayer is that I may be able and fitted to use the word of God understandingly.— Detroit, Mich.
