Testimonies of Healing

I became interested in Christian...

From the July 1912 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I became interested in Christian Science about five years ago, not for my own physical healing, but because of my wife's experience. She had been treated by different doctors for years, but not receiving much benefit became very much discouraged, and I persuaded her to try Christian Science. She was so much benefited by a few treatments that I too became interested. We had been members of another church for a number of years and thought we could not give it up, and we felt it was our duty never to be absent from the services, but after reading the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, we received so much better understanding of the Bible than we had ever had before that we began to attend the Christian Science services. When I glance back to what we were before we had this blessed truth, my heart overflows with gratitude for blessings received.

About three years ago I had a very bad fall and fractured one of my hip bones. My friends thought I would be a cripple for life, but I knew that Jesus healed all manner of disease, also the lame, the halt, and the blind, and that we had this same ever-present help now. I was healed in a few treatments and feel no ill effects from the experience, for which I am very grateful.

I would also like to express my gratitude to God for a remarkable healing recently received in Christian Science. A short time ago I lost my appetite and strength, and had every symptom of a fever, including night sweats and very severe hemorrhage of the bowels. My condition seemed serious, and not being able to meet it ourselves we called a practitioner. All pain seemed to leave me after the first treatment, and throughout the experience I was not confined to my bed for a single day. I regained my strength rapidly, and with the healing came such a spiritual uplifting that it was indeed "Peace, be still."
