So abundant are the blessings...

From the July 1912 issue of The Christian Science Journal

SO abundant are the blessings which have come to me through Christian Science I cannot withhold my testimony, hoping it may lead some one to Truth. It came to me at a time when I was greatly in need of relief. I had been suffering from nervous exhaustion, also an acute stomach disorder and loss of sight for over three months, being confined to my bed during this time. We had the services of our family physician, who was very kind and did all he could for me; but he told my husband that I could never be a well woman again.

One very cold morning a lady who was a stranger to me called to tell me of the truth. She brought me the sweet message that God does not send sickness, and that His children are perfect. The literature which was given me to read had many helpful thoughts. I had been taught that God sends sickness, but as I pondered all these thoughts over and over, I turned with earnest prayer to God, remembering the promise, "He shall call upon me and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation." After reading Science and Health for three days, during which time I could not understand its teaching, although I had read to about the eightieth page, in the third night I awoke from a sound sleep, and it was as if a great light shone upon the book, and I realized that I was in God's hands, that the gates of the heavenly city were open wide, and that death was swallowed up in victory.

I was healed from that very hour, and the following week resumed my duties and have enjoyed good health ever since. Truth has been our only physician for the last four years. I had no practitioner; the truth in Science and Health alone did the healing. It revealed to me that "the Christian Science God is universal, eternal, divine Love, which changeth not and causeth no evil, disease, nor death" (Science and Health, p. 140).
