For me to try to tell what Christian Science has done for me, would be like trying to gild fine gold. It has raised me up from slavery to a false appetite to a sense of life in God. Our demonstrations of the power of divine Love have been many.
It is over two years since I first tried Christian Science. I had been drinking heavily for some time and was in the care of a doctor, who was giving me whisky because he thought this necessary at the time. I called a Christian Science practitioner and had taken only a few treatments, when I was cured of all taste for liquor, and I have never had the least desire for it since. I was also cured of rheumatism, which had pained me constantly for over a year.
In the fall of 1910, while the practitioner who had helped us was out of the city, our baby was sick for three days, and when I came home on Saturday evening she was so ill that my wife and I had to take care of her the entire night. Sunday morning I went to the home of our first reader and told her of this trouble. But she reassured me and said she would do what she could, and when I returned home I found the baby playing on the floor, well on the road to recovery.
