For a number of years I suffered from a complication of diseases. After taking treatments from different doctors and receiving no relief, they advised my husband to take me West to see if that would benefit me. After going to Los Angeles, Cal., we engaged one of the leading physicians in that city, and on making an examination he said I must have two serious operations performed. I went to a hospital and was operated on for a very serious affection of the kidney. My husband refused to allow but one operation on account of my weakened condition. I came out of the hospital no better than I went there.
One year later I went to Phoenix, Ariz., and for two years I suffered greatly. I went to the best physician in that city and he informed me that I needed to have another operation and that I could never be well unless I did. I had suffered so much from the first operation, and was no better from it, that I thought I would rather die than go through the ordeal again. When I was trying to decide whether I should go to the hospital or be an invalid the rest of my life, Christian Science came in and saved me from both. I was suffering from kidney, bladder, and stomach trouble of the worst kind. I also had a heart difficulty and was a nervous wreck, besides the serious internal condition for which the doctor said I would have to be operated on. I could scarcely walk and could not take a step without severe pain. I went to a Christian Science practitioner, and after taking treatment for two weeks and reading Science and Health, I was healed. That was in 1908, and I have been in perfect health ever since. My friends who knew me before that time say they hardly recognize me as the same person.
I have so much to be thankful for Christian Science has not alone lifted me out of sickness to health, but has helped me through a great sorrow. I am indeed thankful to God, and also to Mrs. Eddy for Christian Science.— Parker, Ariz.
