Testimonies of Healing

[Translated from the German]

We can testify with the psalmist,...

From the November 1913 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We can testify with the psalmist, that "God is our refuge and strength." We had faith in God's help in times of tribulation, but this was as far as we got. Only through Christian Science did we learn how He must be sought and how we may rely upon Him implicitly. Our eldest daughter suffered for over three years with occasional severe attacks of rheumatism, and while medical means had not been spared in order to relieve the trouble, yet they proved of no avail. Accidentally, as it seemed, we heard of Christian Science, and with full faith that she would experience healing, our daughter went to Hannover in order to have treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, which proved to be successful within a few days.

Soon after she had left home, I was taken with acute lung trouble. It had been my desire to yield entirely to the will of God, and therefore medical aid was not sought. When my daughter was informed of my sickness she returned, and on the same evening asked for treatment to be taken up for me also. In two weeks' time I had improved sufficiently to be able to take the trip to Hannover, with the thought of becoming better acquainted with the teachings of Christian Science, and a week later I returned home well. I am profoundly grateful to God for having been freed not only of lung trouble, but also of a stomach affection of long standing. We might further mention the case of our fifteen-year-old daughter, who was healed, after three treatments, of severe inflammation of the throat. Our eighteen-year-old son came home one day feeling ill, and I immediately asked the faithful practitioner for help. After three days measles was manifested, with a very severe cough and alarming conditions, but a fortnight later he was able to take up his work again. For all these benefits we are grateful to God, and also to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—
