In grateful acknowledgment of many benefits received in Christian Science, I gladly offer my testimony to the healing power of Truth. Three years ago my son, then five years of age, was afflicted with a complication of diseases. He was reduced to a mere skeleton, and at last was unable to eat, drink, or take any nourishment whatever. I enlisted the services of both schools of medicine, but without any good result. They examined him and pronounced the case tubercular disease of the intestines, kidney trouble, and dropsy. At last I called in a specialist on children's diseases, who advised an operation, but gave me no hope of his recovery. The attending physician made the remark that if it was his child he would not permit it.
Realizing the utter powerlessness of human agencies, I turned to Christian Science and called in a practitioner, and the result was like the entering of a beam of light into a darkened room, dissipating the gloom therein. In a short time improvement was apparent, and it continued until the cure was completed. There has been no return of the difficulties, and the boy is today as robust and healthy as could be desired. It is evident that it was the light which entered and destroyed the darkness, and not the window through which it shone. Thus in Christian Science practise it is the divine Spirit which heals, and not the human mentality. I wish to say further, hoping it may be of benefit to some anxious mother, that I have seen croup, chicken-pox, measles, whooping-cough, and a malignant disease cured through this wonderful truth.
I do most deeply and with my whole heart thank God for His love and mercy in leading me to Christian Science, and I am more than grateful to our beloved Leader for this great revelation of divine Truth. — Baltimore, Md.
