Like countless others, I too have occasion to thank God for numberless physical healings through Christian Science, together with a spiritual quickening that I never before thought possible. I was healed in what was to me a most wonderful manner, although I did not at that time realize it.
About two years ago, while trying to keep a keg of horseshoes from falling off a pile on to my feet, I was ruptured, and for several days suffered intense pain. While on my way to a physician I was met by a friend, who advised me to consult a Christian Science practitioner, and cited to me the well-known fact that materia medica usually met with poor success in the treatment of similar cases. Although I was at that time very antagonistic toward Christian Science and its followers, I put off consulting a physician until I had discussed with my wife the advisability of taking Science treatment. She, being a firm believer in the efficacy of Christian Science as taught by Mrs. Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," counseled strongly in favor of it.
The next evening, after the first treatment of half an hour's duration, I left the home of the practitioner absolutely free of pain, and was able the next morning to enter upon my duties at the store, doing the heaviest kind of manual labor all day long. In the course of a week's treatment all evidence of the ailment had disappeared, and I have never known a moment's discomfort from that source to this day.
