Out of gratitude for my quick...

From the December 1913 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Out of gratitude for my quick healing, I submit the following testimony. On running to catch a train one evening, I fell and turned my ankle in such a way that it seemed impossible for me to proceed any farther. But through scientific thinking I was enabled to reach the depot, and I thought very little of the incident until, later in the evening, having reached my destination, I noticed my ankle was quite swollen. Even then I was not alarmed, for I had acquired the habit of knowing the truth about erroneous conditions. In the morning, however, I was unable to step on the foot. For a moment, fear seemed to take possession of me, but only for an instant, as I still realized that God is the great Physician and is ever with His children, and will not leave them comfortless.

After making full preparations for the day's work, as is my custom, I began the study of the Lesson-Sermon. As I opened my thought to the truth, something in my foot seemed to snap, and I experienced instant relief. Although the swelling did not subside at once, I was enabled to meet all my appointments with music pupils that day with little or no inconvenience, and walked several miles the day following.

This to me is very convincing proof of "practical, operative Christian Science" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 207).—
