Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science has done so...

From the April 1913 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science has done so much for me in the past ten years that I have felt for a long time I should write and acknowledge the many benefits I have received through the understanding of the Bible and Science and Health.

Before coming into Christian Science I had suffered from many ailments. I had a growth of some kind on my right shoulder, and this was the first to disappear; then I was healed of hernia of twenty-five years' standing. These two troubles were healed about ten years ago. I also had a sore leg, caused from an injury which I received on the shin-bone. It was a long time before this ailment yielded to the truth, but in June, 1912, all the dead bone came out (three pieces) and my leg healed completely. I had had one operation for this leg and the doctors wanted to perform another, but I told them I would stick to Christian Science, which I did, and I was healed. What I suffered with this leg no one knows, except those who have gone through a similar experience. The bone was exposed for several years, and was finally said to be dead. I had Christian Science treatment at various times, but never steadily. All the time, however, I stood firm on Christian Science, doing all I could to the best of my understanding. I finally got a practitioner to give me regular treatments, and in about three months I was entirely healed, for which I certainly was glad and thankful! I have also been healed of a very lame back, which caused me terrible suffering. I could not get around at all for about three weeks, so I finally wired for help, and relief came in a short time.

I was freed from the taste for liquor and tobacco, besides other bad habits, and for this overcoming of error by Truth I thank God. I also had much trouble with my stomach, but all this has passed away and I am now perfectly well in every respect. I have not taken any medicine for over nine years. At one time I fell off my train and broke one of my fingers, and to mortal sense was injured very badly, but I never told any one except my nearest friends; in fact, I never lost a day on this account. I am a railroad conductor and have had many narrow escapes; but I have always relied on God to help me, and His ever-presence has been my help in every need.
