It has been my desire for several months to have others know what Christian Science has done for me. I had been a great sufferer from rheumatism for many years, it being considered hereditary in my family; I had, in fact, despaired of ever being well again. I was almost helpless, could not walk without the support of a stick, could not dress or undress myself, and had to be waited on like a little child. I was also so drawn up that I could not straighten myself out on the bed. My children had spent hundreds of dollars in trying many doctors and every material remedy that they heard of, but I could only get temporary relief.
About two years ago my daughter visited me and persuaded me to give Christian Science a trial, as she had seen a case which had been healed by it. I consented though I had no faith in it. When the practitioner came, I was suffering from a severe headache, which was banished in a few minutes. I thought then there must be something in it, and after a few days' treatment I put away my stick and left off the glasses that I had worn for thirty years. I was then sixty-five years old. In the past year I have done work that I have not been able to do in nineteen years, and I have used neither medicine nor any other material remedy since my first treatment. The Bible is a new book to me since I began to study it with Mrs. Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Christian Science is a great blessing to me also, and I shall always endeavor to live its teachings. I am truly thankful to God for having been so lovingly helped.— Eufaula, Ala.
