I deem it my duty to testify to having been lifted out of severe illness in a wonderful way through the ministrations of Christian Science. I had suffered for some time with a kidney trouble, which resulted in dropsy in its incipient stages and much disturbance of the heart action. A physician finally stated that there was a serious affection of the heart, and the attacks of weakness recurring continually, drove me almost to despair. Although I did not do any kind of work and had the best of care, and strictly observed the medical prescriptions, there was no improvement, neither did a five-weeks stay in the mountains induce a change for the better; on the contrary, a state of serious mental depression was added, and the second physician whom I had to consult pronounced my case to be incurable, thus robbing me of every hope. Besides this, daily increasing debility set in, with sleeplessness and lack of appetite.
I then heard of the teachings of Christian Science through a lady with whom I was acquainted, and decided to try it as a last resort. I did so, and the result surpassed all expectations. Although from the time treatment was taken up in Christian Science I had to discard all material remedies, I had a refreshing sleep of several hours' duration after the first treatment. The attacks of weak heart action became less frequent and diminished in severity, and finally ceased altogether. Even the vehement emotion caused by my father's sudden decease did not noticeably affect my condition. When, some time later, the physician made an examination, he was hardly able to conceal his astonishment regarding the favorable course of my illness, and all our acquaintances expressed their surprise at my rapid improvement.
I am now completely restored through God's power and the understanding of Truth, and am desirous of once more expressing my sincere gratitude for Christian Science and its wonderful healing ministration, based on Love divine.— Berlin-Friedenau, Germany.
