For over two years I had suffered almost continuously from severe pain in my left side. I also had stomach disorder, and everything I ate caused severe pain. I had several doctors, and they put me on a light diet, but I got no relief. I also tried different medicines, but they did not help me, so I became discouraged and gave up drugs. About September, 1912, two young men friends who had been healed through Christian Science loaned me the book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and I began to study it, together with the Bible. I became very much interested, and soon found I had never understood the dear Master's teachings, although I had been a Bible reader.
On Dec. 25, 1912, while listening to the service at church, I was taken with the worst pain I had had for some time, and could scarcely sit still. After the service I was introduced to a Christian Science practitioner, who kindly talked to me and to whom I explained my condition as nearly as I could. She told me that I need not have the pain, that God never made anything but what was good. She asked me to call on her the next day, and said she would give me a treatment if the suffering continued; but she did not think it would. A friend walked home with me, as the pain was so severe. I got to bed after praying to God for relief, and after some time went to sleep. I awakened about two o'clock with not a vestige of the ailment left, no matter how I turned.
I cannot express my feelings, and my thankfulness to God and to Christian Science for all it has done for me. A few months after this healing I had a malignant growth on my hand which would not heal, but after one treatment by the same practitioner it was made perfectly well. My healing has been permanent. I have also laid off my glasses; it has been over a year since I put them aside. I am now in my eighty-fifth year.— Atlantic City, N. J.
