Testimonies of Healing

I want to give a testimony to...

From the November 1914 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I want to give a testimony to what Christian Science has done and is doing for me every day. My healing seems most wonderful to me, and our doctor, who had given me up, said he thought Christian Science was one of the grandest things on earth. He has told all of his doctor friends about my healing through this teaching. I had been bedfast for two years, when I began to take Christian Science treatment because our doctor gave me only a few hours to live. His kind thought was for me to get some good person to pray for me, as he said no one but God could help me, because material remedies had proved of no avail.

I had about every ill that flesh could manifest, among them what the doctors called consumption of the bowels in its worst form, and chronic sore mouth. I was extremely emaciated the morning I began to have Christian Science treatment, which was Feb. 13, 1911. Now I weigh more than the average woman, and am healthier and happier than I ever was in all my life, and I owe it all to Christian Science. I shall never forget the peace and rest that came over me with the first treatment, and I began at once to improve; but my healing was very slow. In fact, it was almost a year before I was entirely healed. I had treatment from two practitioners, and they were both very good and kind to me.

My trouble was that I depended too much on personality, and as soon as I overcame this I began to rise higher in an understanding of what God is, and what He will do for us if we will let Him. Since I have quit depending upon others for help all the time, and have begun to work out my own salvation, as God requires each one to do, and to this end works with us, I have a better understanding of Christ, Truth. I have been able to do some good work in truth for myself and for others, for which I am grateful. Every time I look back over my healing and see where and how Christian Science found me and where it has brought me, I feel very humble indeed, and it seems as though I cannot do enough in return for what has been done for me, because if I had not taken up Christian Science when I did, I would not be on this plane of thought today.
