I have had much help in Christian Science since I was first treated in the summer of 1910. In December, 1911, I had a severe attack of acute lung trouble. I called a practitioner, who treated me for several days, and I began to get better; but my husband, not knowing anything of Christian Science, was greatly worried about me. He called in a doctor, who said that my lungs were in a serious condition. He came every day for a week, during which time I grew worse instead of better. My heart was in a very bad condition from the strong medicine I was taking, and I could not retain any food. The second week I grew so much worse that the family became greatly alarmed, and the doctor said I could not live a week.
I then asked my husband if I could have Christian Science treatment, and he was glad to let me try anything, as the doctor had given me up. He sent for a Christian Scientist. who at once began to treat me. I realized immediately that I was well, and in three days I was up. I was able to eat anything and enjoyed my food. In one week I could go anywhere I wished and was stronger than I had ever been before; in fact, I was perfectly healed.
Soon afterward the doctor stopped me as I was passing his office and asked permission to examine me again. I allowed him to do so, knowing that I was healed. He was greatly surprised at seeing me out so soon, but when he made the examination, he could not tell where the trouble had been or which lung had been affected. When he asked me what I had done, I told him I had been having Christian Science treatment. He said it was wonderful. I enjoyed perfect health for several months, and then I had a slight attack of illness; but by knowing the truth and with some help from the practitioner, it was all overcome.
