Testimonies of Healing

A few years before I heard of...

From the June 1914 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A few years before I heard of Christian Science I began to grow tired of the old way of praying. I wanted to be good and happy, yet I never felt any better for praying. Whenever I was in pain or had anything the matter with me, I feared I was nearing the end, but I did not feel ready to go, and I did not know how to get any relief. I was tired of taking medicine, and I had a feeling that I could not always continue to do so, for there must be a way of escape.

About five years ago my brother heard of Christian Science and told us something about it. I seemed to grasp a little of its teachings, for many of my fears gradually left me, although it was fully a year and a half before I started to study the text-book. I have since been able to leave off glasses, which I had been told I would have to wear always and constantly. I was also frequently ill with severe headaches, which made me useless for the rest of the day, but these have been overcome. As far back as I can remember I had difficulty with my feet in the summer time: very often they would blister and would not heal for a long time; but since I have been studying Science and Health they have never troubled me. Every winter I suffered from chilblains, and this, too, has been overcome by the application of the truth.

Words cannot express my gratitude for all the blessings I have received through Christian Science. I am indeed thankful to God for having given us this truth, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I am also very grateful for all the literature that is published by The Christian Science Publishing Society. I love to read and study the Bible daily, whereas before coming into Christian Science I had no desire to read the Bible or any religious book. I know that I am now spiritually, morally, and physically better than I used to be, and my one desire is to be a loyal and worthy Christian Scientist.—
