I deem it a privilege to be allowed to testify, through the pages of the Journal, to God's merciful goodness to me in the healing of my body and the uplifting of my thought from dark visions of mortal sense into a clearer atmosphere, that of Love and divine Science. For twenty-five years I was held in bondage to matter and material law expressed in many phases of suffering, such as acute stomach trouble, nervous exhaustion with a spinal complication, a skin disease, and other troubles which resulted in severe operations. These left me a total wreck at an advanced age, with the verdict that the seat of the diseases could not be reached by surgery. As a last faint hope I turned to Christian Science, and after one week of reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I was healed of all the acute forms of disease and suffering, so that I was able to take up an active life and to care for my home, although I had been under the care of a nurse for nine months.
The spiritual light came with the reading, and soon, by the help of a practitioner, I was practically well, and was enabled to do healing work for myself and others. For a year or more I battled with roughness and irritation of the hands, but Truth finally conquered, and for eight years now I have had no occasion or temptation to use material remedies.
My son had an attack of typhoid fever, and after two doctors had failed to help him, when he found himself in a critical condition he turned to Christian Science, saying that he could not bear another night of the fever. A very few moments of clear realization of the truth of being on my part was sufficient to banish all trace of fever, and the doctor found him in a perfectly normal condition at his next visit, so far as any fever was concerned.
