Many times I have been asked to send my testimony for publication, for I was healed in Christian Science after nearly thirty years of suffering, and it seemed as if I should express my gratitude, as others are doing who are rejoicing in a similar experience.
I suffered torture from sciatica; also was compelled to wear low shoes for fifteen years on account of cramping muscles, any pressure about the ankles causing unbearable pain. I had many diseases. Then, too, one finger was bent from an injury, and my physician told me it would never straighten. There was a dark blemish on my face of twenty-eight years' duration; although it had been burned off once, it reappeared. When four physicians told me I had heart disease and hardening of the arteries, and that my case was incurable, my sufferings were unspeakable, and I felt anxious to die.
I had been reading the testimonies in the Sentinel for some weeks, and as a last chance I turned to Christian Science. In one treatment I was healed of an affliction from which I had suffered the greater part of my life. Through the grace of a God of mercy and compassion, the healing of other ills gradually followed, until in less than six weeks all pain had vanished, and I felt that I was transformed "by the renewal of Spirit" (Science and Health, p. 241). My bent finger is perfectly straight, I can wear high shoes with ease, the disfiguring blemish has almost disappeared, and my every want is supplied.
