A few years ago I spent the summer with one who is a Christian Scientist; and while observing the physical healing, the happiness, peace, and joy which this one derived from studying Christian Science, I became interested. It seemed to me that this was a religion worth studying, when it made my friend so happy with seemingly so much around to make one the very reverse. I was given a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and since then I have studied it daily, several attacks of illness having been healed in a few treatments, as a result of this study.
For six years I had worn glasses, and several oculists had told me that I would be compelled to wear them all my life, as I had a bad structural defect of the eye, and suffered severe headaches if I went without them. One day I asked a Science friend if she would treat my eyes, so that I would not have to wear glasses. She gladly consented, and I asked her when I would know that I could leave them off. She told me that the "still small voice" of Truth would tell me. Two days after this, as I was going to school, my glasses fell to the pavement and both lenses were badly nicked. I stopped at my friend's house and asked what I should do. She told me she knew that my eyes were healed, and that I did not need the glasses. Since that morning I have never had glasses on, and my eyes are perfectly normal.
Although more than grateful for the many physical healings which I have experienced in Christian Science, I am especially thankful for the spiritual uplift and my changed attitude toward life, and for the help which Science gives me in my work as a school-teacher. There is now so much to live for; and there need be no worry or anxiety, for we know that God is Love, and that man is God's perfect child.
