The blessings which have come to me since I became acquainted with the teachings of Christian Science are many, but at present I will tell of two instances of physical healing.
Two and a half years ago, while at home, I fell and sustained a fracture of the arm. My son hastened to a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help. The practitioner sent word that if my trust was not sufficient for the occasion, I should call a physician, but she would treat me in Christian Science. I must confess that at that time I had not attained the point where I could trust firmly; hence a physician was called, and by the way, I may be permitted to describe him as admirable both in his profession and as a man. He immediately diagnosed the injury as a fracture, and as he had to order a splint, he placed the arm in a sling with a light cotton bandage, expecting to set it the next day. In the mean time I quieted down, and experienced very little of the unrest which is supposed to attend such cases.
The next day, when the physician came with the splint and took off the bandage, the arm appeared to be somewhat swollen, though its shape seemed quite normal, in contrast to the distressing evidence the day before, so that he inquired in a puzzled manner whether he had set the arm on the preceding day. My son and T testified to the contrary, and at that moment I realized that what is impossible with men is possible with God. Six days later the physician proposed to make an X-ray examination, and the picture showed such a favorable result that his colleague, who took it, said that I need only carry the arm in a light sling without a bandage. During a conversation which he had with our physician, he expressed a doubt as to there having been any fracture!
