Testimonies of Healing

From the November 1915 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with profound gratitude to God and with a sense of great indebtedness to our revered Leader that I wish to tell of my healing in Christian Science. Until four years ago, the time when I became acquainted with this teaching, I was afflicted with near-sightedness and weak eyesight, said to have been caused by pressure at birth. This verdict was confirmed by the physicians who examined me with regard to my fitness for military service, from which I was then exempted owing to the above-mentioned defect, the fact that for several years now I have been able to do my work without glasses and without experiencing any strain on my eyes. One Christian Science treatment inspired me with so much faith in God's goodness that I at once discarded the glasses which I had formerly needed.

My endeavor is to thank God, our universal parent, by searching diligently for the truth contained in our literature, by putting forth a sincere effort and thinking and acting aright. I have learned by experience that through being faithful over small things and grateful for benefits received we become fitted to receive more, and I clearly recognize the fact that the Christ who was before Abraham, is with us alway. My most sincere desire is that my brethren may be led to recognize the love and goodness which our heavenly Father bestows upon us every hour.—
