I have long felt that I should testify to the great benefits I have received from the study of Christian Science. I was healed of eye trouble of fifteen years' standing, as well as of the tobacco habit; but the liquor habit was not destroyed, and was growing on me, although I did not realize it. After an unusual debauch, I reasoned with myself that since Christian Science had done for me what nothing else could, I would apply it in this case. While going about my duties that day I held to the thought that God's child is not subject to false appetites, and in the evening on my way home I found it quite easy to pass the place where I had been in the habit of stopping for several years.
My constant and earnest prayer was the prayer of affirmation, the knowing that God could and would heal me of that or any other inharmonious condition, if I firmly relied on Him. I made my stand for Truth. That was over four years ago, and I have not tasted intoxicating liquors or indulged in profanity since. The man who joined me in that last debauch was himself shortly afterward healed through Christian Science of both the liquor and the cigarette habit.
The one remarkable thing about the healing of a bad habit in Christian Science is the fact that all desire to return to it is removed. My earnest hope is that this may reach some seeker for Truth and be an encouragement. I am very grateful for the help I have received through reading the periodicals. I am thankful to God, and grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I was directed to study Christian Science, which has brought peace and happiness to me and to my family.—Dubuque, Iowa.
