With a heart overflowing with gratitude for help received through reading the testimonies of others in the Christian Science publications, I am desirous to tell of my own healing, with the loving hope that seekers for Truth may be helped thereby. Prior to 1903 I had been a great sufferer for fifteen years from a complication of diseases,—chronic throat trouble, stomach disorder of serious nature, heart affection, rheumatism, and sleeplessness. For years I did not know what it was to sleep more than about ten minutes at a time. We had tried a dozen or more good physicians, but none could give me any relief.
I did not know anything about Christian Science, and not being able to go out, I was not acquainted with any people who were Christian Scientists; but my sister had heard a little about this teaching, and when she came to see me one day, she asked if I would like to try it. I was very willing to accept anything, and she said it would help me. Our physician had told me I could live only a short time, as he had done all that could be done. My sister therefore went to a Christian Science practitioner, who gave me one treatment and I was healed. I slept all that night without waking. I have not taken any material remedy for over ten years, and there has been no return of the ailments of which I was healed. I am trying every day to learn more of divine Principle, and I only wish I had known of Christian Science long before I did. I never was so contented and happy as I have been since studying Science.
Words fail me to tell of the joy and peace, the love and gratitude, that Christian Science has brought into my life and home. I wish to express my thankfulness to God for His love and care, and also my gratitude to our dear Leader, who has given us this Christ-teaching that makes free.
