A few years ago I was taken ill with pleurisy, which left me in a delicate state of health and subject to colds. Besides this I had a chronic bronchial trouble, accompanied by shooting pain, and sudden shortness of breathing which was liable to set in at any moment. Moreover, I had dreadful spells during the night, which caused me to start up out of my sleep. My physician had informed me that unless the catarrh yielded within two or three years, it might become very serious, and this made me feel more and more apprehensive as the time indicated was nearing. It was then that I became acquainted with Christian Science, and a kind practitioner, toward whom I cherish a feeling of deep gratitude, took up treatment in a very loving way. Today I may say that, thanks to Christian Science, I have never been in better health, as all the serious physical ills to which I was subject have disappeared.
In connection with the extensive farming in the country around Geneva, I would like to say that I have had the opportunity of observing and appreciating the effects of the application of the higher law with regard to our cattle. Just as an instance out of several, I would like to state the following: One of our cows suddenly showed signs of severe illness, and the veterinary surgeon was unable to give relief. As the death of this animal would have meant a heavy pecuniary loss to us, we did not hesitate to apply the teaching of Christian Science, and the animal was fully restored.
Not only in the domain of healing but with regard to all things do I recognize that the divine Principle is here, always present, always available, helping and sustaining us. I am happy to be able to join the great chorus of those rendering thanks unto God for His infinite love, and I am happy to add to the tribute of gratitude due Mrs. Eddy for the self-sacrifice shown in her life.— Anieres near Geneva, Switzerland.
