Christian Science has done so much for me in bringing peace, love, and harmony into my life, which before seemed filled with discord, despair, and evil, that words fail to express my thankfulness to God, and my gratitude to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
My attention was first called to Christian Science through my youngest brother, who continued to talk about this teaching to me from time to time for seven years; but I thought myself well and strong and felt no need of religion. Then about three years ago I needed help, and that right away, for my condition was serious. Seemingly there was no way of dodging an operation, but the thought came to me to try Christian Science first. To my great surprise and happiness the trouble was soon overcome; and that was not all, for I found myself leaning on Christian Science for support in a moral way. Improvement, was manifested morally as well as physically, and everything became bright to me, whereas before all had been dark. Through Christian Science all has become peace and harmony.
One very rainy day when I was driving an automobile it skidded and went over a viaduct, turning in the air and landing twenty-five feet below. My left leg was badly cut, my right knee twisted, and one rib fractured. When the machine began to skid I declared the truth that God is ever present, and to the great surprise of the people who saw me go over the viaduct I crawled out of the machine and walked two blocks through the mud, then climbed a ladder to the viaduct, where I was picked up by a passing automobile and taken home. Up to this time I did not know any injuries had been received, but when I saw the bad cuts fear crept in and the pain became intense.
