Christian Science has meant more to me than I can ever express; it has brought me health and happiness and has made religion practical. From earliest childhood I greatly desired to understand spiritual things, and was intensely disappointed as the years passed to find that no one really seemed to live what he professed.
I always believed that we should be healed by prayer; to me this was the plain teaching of the Bible, and it seemed to me sinful to use medicine in order to get well. All through childhood I suffered from frequent bilious attacks, which were said to be hereditary and could not be cured. I was also very self-conscious, and to speak in public was the last thing that would be expected of me; yet since my healing ten years ago of both the bilious attacks and the self-consciousness, through the reading of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I have on many occasions publicly expressed my gratitude for Christian Science and for all it has done for me.
I am indeed grateful to our revered Leader for searching the Scriptures and finding therein the Science of Christianity, and for giving her lifework to a sorrow laden world, — making the way so clear that all who desire to know the truth may find it. —
